One story that stands out is that of Emily, a young woman who turned her life around after battling severe depression.
Emily’s Journey: From Darkness to Light
Emily grew up in a loving family, surrounded by friends and opportunities. On the outside, everything seemed perfect. However, as she entered her late teens, Emily began experiencing feelings of overwhelming sadness, isolation, and hopelessness. She struggled to get out of bed in the morning, lost interest in activities she once loved, and felt disconnected from those around her.
Emily’s depression deepened during her first year of college. The pressure to succeed academically, combined with the stress of adjusting to a new environment, became too much for her to bear. She began withdrawing from her friends and family, spending most of her days alone in her dorm room. Despite the growing darkness, she didn’t reach out for help, believing that she should be able to handle it on her own.
The breaking point came when Emily began having thoughts of suicide. She felt like a burden to those around her and couldn’t see a way out of the pain. It was at this critical moment that she decided to reach out for help. Emily confided in a close friend, who immediately took her to the campus counseling center.
The Turning Point: Seeking Help

Emily eventually graduated with honors and pursued a career in social work, determined to help others who were struggling just as she had.
