Brenda Gonyou

Intern

Brenda Gonyou is an intern student from Cornerstone University, and she is excited that her graduation date is quickly approaching and anticipates achieving licensure in the fall. She earned her undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University, and her career journey has allowed her to serve others as a teacher, fitness instructor, and medical assistant. Along with being a wife and mother, her experiences have given her a unique perspective about how the mind, body, and soul are interconnected. Her concentration in Trauma-Focused therapy is based on the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) model, which allows the client to address how emotions, thoughts, and behaviors impact how we feel about ourselves and how we relate to others. Although she enjoys working with women and teens, she truly has “never met a stranger” and seeks to know and understand each person as an individual. She believes that providing a safe place for EACH client is the first step in building a therapeutic relationship, whether relating to an individual, couple, or group.
